Who is SAAF-NC?
Our purpose
To provide financial assistance to North Carolina National Guard members and families while deployed or serving at home.
Created in 2004
The SAAF-NC is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2004 by senior leadership of the North Carolina National Guard when the 30th Armor Brigade Combat Team deployed to Iraq. The North Carolina National Guard then transferred control of the organization to a private board of directors.
How SAAF- NC is Funded
SAAF-NC is funded solely by citizens, businesses, and organizations across North Carolina who appreciate the sacrifices of our National Guard soldiers, airmen, and families. We honor those who leave their families and put their careers and education on hold to defend our nation and serve our communities in times of crisis. Funds are raised through individual and group donations, sponsorships, and various fundraising events and initiatives throughout the year.
Boots Campaign
Participating NC local area convenience stores conduct a "Buy A Boot" fundraising campaign during the weeks before and after Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day. Our 2024 campaign raised $86,839 across 172 convenience stores for NC Guardsmen!
Golf Tournament
Our annual golf tournament - Fairway to Honor offers a rewarding experience while raising crucial funds to support NC Guardsmen and their families.
NC State Patriotic License Plate
NC residents can showcase their patriotism by purchasing a “In God We Trust” license plate through the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV)! The letters “SA” stand for “soldiers” and “airmen.”
